FEARING THE UNKNOWN…

Image
FEARING THE UNKNOWN… Since the very beginning of the mankind, we have fear the unknown- what is it, how does it affect us? etc. our first instinct while facing these things is always running away and this instinct has followed us through out the development of the mankind. Now, we are capable enough to roam the space, advance enough to search for things outside the solar system, yet most of us are still afraid of the unknown, of the thing that breaks the chain of a daily life of a mediocre family, of a new thing in our well maintained and documented life. COVID-19 emerged as one of those unknown. We were and are still in dark about this virus despite our many attempts to understand it. And that unknown, still undiscovered part of the virus has forced the whole world to change their life as it was 2 years ago. Everything changed. So did the life cycle of the students. What once was their holy land of Macca is now just an empty room with benches and tables. Every small detail...

HOW THE PANDEMIC HELPED TO FIND PURPOSE

At the beginning of the pandemic, I felt clueless and trapped, knowing that I would be spending weeks, and now months, stuck at home with my family. I’d been independent for three years while attending the University of Tennessee, and suddenly, I had to revert to how things were before I moved away for college. I am from a small rural town called Brownsville that’s four hours outside of Memphis. I was a full-time student. I was active and I worked on campus. I lived with my friends. Once COVID-19 hit and we were told we had to evacuate and not return, I was devastated. Classes transitioned to online, and I wasn’t able to work for a couple months. I transferred to my nearest university, amity university Jaipur, to continue working toward my college degree. During the first couple of weeks, there were citywide lockdowns. The only people that were allowed to leave home were “essential workers.” If you were pulled over by police after curfew and not deemed an essential worker, you we...

Pandemic And Education

When I thought about pandemic and education, I think it has both positive and negative effect on students. Somehow students come closer to technology but also it has negative effect on the mental health of students. Pandemic offer us new ways of teaching and learning. The coronavirus pandemic has spurred the adoption of distance learning at all education levels. Thousands of colleges and universities closed nationwide . The mass transition will be a proving ground for online education.   Covid-19 has made it more obvious that the public school system cannot fulfill its mission without families. This pandemic—along with the many overlapping pandemics our nation now faces, including racial, economic, political and environmental injustices—has also heightened existing barriers betw...

This invasion of the virus didn’t set any age-bar, rather affected everyone equally, starting from the innocent infants to enthusiastic teens and even to the old monks. The deadly virus has changed our lifestyle in a very dramatical way. The early stages of the pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns were hard for all of us, in different ways. And, the versatility of its impacts has led to unacceptable consequences, majorly in the areas of mental health, education system, economy and unemployment. Mental health is a major component for our wellbeing and distress in it is quite fatal in a long run. Isolation, joblessness, childcare, and various other challenges have severely affected the mental well-being of many people around the world, thus, horribilizing the day-to-day lives. Moreover, the physical health effects of COVID-19 and the countless deaths during the pandemi...
